x-ray photograph or pictures over HL7

hello,

has anyone infos about the procedure to send x-ray photographs or pictures over HL7.
It is important for me because i use mirth to fetch the messages and send them via JMS to another System and i have not found any Infos about this.

I suppose you're talking about DICOM pictures.

It's not a good idea to send a DICOM object into an HL7 message (but if you want, you can use an OBX segment of an ORU message). The size if the message should result too big.

One of an usual option is to send an OBX wth the info about how to get the image (URI for WADO, or the OID fo the serie/studie/patitent) to get it by DICOM.
