  • Error recovery in Mirth Connect 3.0

    Dear Sir,

We have been confronted with the following issue and were only able to partially fix it in M irth 2.0.

We have a channel with a file reader source (xml) and and web service sender using a persistent queue. There are now 3 scenarios possible:
    1) The message is delivered successfully ("processed")
    2) The server is down and the message is "queued"
    3) The server responds with an error and the message is "errored"

We discovered that "our" server sometimes responds with an error for no apparent reason (server stability or configuration issue). Re-sending the same message a few seconds later works most of the time. We know exactly the error code for which we may resend the message. However, I cannot check this because the message always has the QUEUED state. We now solved this by creating a kind of daemon watchdog channel that queries the database every minute to pickup those messages that can be resend. However, this will likely cause an out of order condition.

Now to my question. Can I handle this problem in Mirth Connect 3.0? Possibly using the new "Attemp First" option of the queue? So, will I be able to detect an error and do a resend for a limited number of times?

    Best regards,
    Nieko Punt

    P.S.

Is it possible in Mirth Connect 2.0 to create JavaScript Writer for sending a SOAP message?

That can be accomplished in 3.0 with the response transformer. If a message has been marked as ERROR, you can catch it in the response transformer and change the status to QUEUED based on some field/etc. in the response.

Always include what Mirth Connect version you're working with. Also include (if applicable) the code you're using and full stacktraces for errors (use CODE tags). Posting your entire channel is helpful as well; make sure to scrub any PHI/passwords first.

    - How do I foo?
    - You just bar.
