Ok, im giving up on mirth... (not really)
i have tried everything possible to get Mirth running, (every forum post for the past 6 months). I had it running with v.1.3.x but was unstable.
i run the installer (thank you for taking the time to make it available) but when i try to launch webstart from the browser it cannot find ex http://localip:8080/webstart or http://localip:8080 or https://localip:8080...
double clicking on any file located in the mirth folder produces nothing but errors in java...
everything else on the system runs perfect, java included and yes its the latest version for Mac.
Powermac Cube (test machine) running OSX 10.4.10 with 512MB RAM mirth 1.6.0.2714setup installed in application directory.

any insight is appreciated, note, ive uninstalled EVERYTHING and reinstalled including the webstart patch...

here is the error i get in the java Web Start found in the utilities folder in a folder called JAVA - download error : it referees to an old IP, how do i get rid of it?

Which Java JVM are you using? The Sun JVM or the Apple JVM?

I'm also pretty sure that Chris is an Apple fan so OS X support is probably pretty high on the list.

Indeed - OS X is a "first-class" citizen when it comes to our native support.

You might have a cached copy of the JNLP for webstart - go to Applications/Utilities/Java/J2SE 5.0/Java Cache Viewer

Here you can delete old copies and Mirth should re-download when you webstart again.

        Re:installing 1.6 and config under OSX 10.4.10

Im using J2SE 5.0. Not sure what version of JVM unless its the same thing!? different name.
Ive run a pre-binding clean-up script from terminal I found on apples java forum: $sudo update_prebinding -debug
repaired all permissions, and ran monthly/weekly/daily maintenance routines...
Ive deleted all cache's, the cache viewer finds nothing. Im reinstalling in another directory, the utilities folder.
        Restarting and... http://localip:8080 yields nothing.

im stuck. what am i not doing. what are the proper steps for setting up? thanks!

          Try localhost and not localip?

            Re:installing 1.6 and config under OSX 10.4.10

Here is what I have done for a graphical install on OSX.

            (1) Download the v 1.4 .dmg
            (2) Copy to the application to the Applications folder
            (3) Make a copy of the application (leaves you a backup app)
            (4) Rename application to "Mirth Server v 1.5"
            (5) Download the zipped version of 1.5 or 1.6
            (6) Show the package contents of the renamed application in the Applications folder
            (7) Copy the newer files over the older files (easy to see which are the common folders and files)
            (8) Launch app from Appliactions folder
            (9) go to http://localhost:8080/ and login to the administrator page

I am on OSX 10.4.9, J2SE 5.0, and FF/Safari. I have yet to have a problem with Mirth install or anything.

Yes, just put http://localhost:8080 exactly like that.

                  http://localhost:8080

                  nothing.

Ok, so ive installed the mirth app from the homepage of www.mirthproject.org.
it sits in a floder. In that folder are files, java icons and blank icons (windows stuff).
My question is: does the installer install anything else outside of this Mirth folder?
how can i launch this form the terminal or get it started. the browser way is not getting me anywhere...
and where would these files end up in the apache serve?

                  thanks!!!!

                    Re:installing 1.6 and config under OSX 10.4.10

The first thing you need to do is start the server.

Go to Terminal, cd to the Mirth directory (or just type cd then drag the Mirth folder from Applications to the terminal window)

                    Type: ./Mirth.sh

Mirth should start up - once you see that Mirth is started, go to http://localhost:8080 in your browser to launch the client.

                      in terminal...
                      cd/Applications/Utilities/Mirth ./Mirth.sh

i get: No such file or directory.

                          it should just be:

                          cd /Applications/Utilities/Mirth/

                          then hit "enter"

                          then type

                          ./Mirth.sh

                            wow...

It is now doing what it should.

your last directions worked perfect! With the terminal, if its not exactly done right nothing will happen. I missed the part where i had to hit enter after cd-ing the directory where the Mirth folder is located.

I am going to write a step-by-step for those like me that don't know everything, but want too.

I think if there were "careful" instructions available, installations would go much smoother and not take away from your development time and your free time!

                            Thanks again!

                            you guys are great!!!
