    Hi everyone.
I've started to investigate Mirth a couple days ago, and I have a newbbie's question.
Is it possible to create a channel that receives a proprietary type and somehow transform that data into an hl7 message(s)?
The following is an example message that I need to parse.

    MESSAGE_TYPE <NEW>
    MODALITY <007004>
    PATIENT_FORE_NAME <JOHN>
    PATIENT_MIDDLE_NAME <JACOB>
    PATIENT_LAST_NAME <SMITH>
    PATIENT_ID <007000042>
    PATIENT_BIRTH_DATE <20020829>
    PATIENT_SEX <M>
    EXAM_ID <00701398470257>
    EXAM_TYPE <CLISTER OPACO C/ DUPLO CONTRASTE>
    REFERRING_PHYSICIAN <020039 ALFREDO>
    EXAM_TIME <124500>
    EXAM_DATE <20061107>
    PROCEDURE_CODE <0070257>

    Thanks in advance...

    Re:Proprietary types

You can use te preproecessor and the replace JS function to convert the message into XML and then into hl7

      Thanks Alberto.
By the way, is it possible to reverse the process, i.e., create a channel that receives hl7 messages and transform them into my proprietary type?

This is easiest than the previous quiestion.

You have to get all the data form the HL7 message to variables, using the mapper.

Then, using a template at the destination, create the format you need.
