How do channels work?

Hi! I'm Anthonette, evaluating the Mirth Software. i was wondering on how to manipulate the channels. I can't start learning through the user guide only. Do you know some sites so that I can learn more? Thanks!

Also check the Wiki and look at the file repository for sample channels.

Thank you for your help. I have created a channel already. However, I'm having a problem with converting XML to HL7. Somebody told me to map it. Can you please give me some hints on how to do it? I don't have a clue. Please......
