  • slow searches

    Currently we have about half a million entries in the Mirth Postresql database.

    Our message searches based on anything except the default date range are remarkably slow, sometimes taking hours to complete.

    What can we do to speed up these searches (a lot!) ?

    Thanks!

    you can use advanced search and only search raw, transformed, or encoded. Also helps to make the page size smaller. If you are searching for a specific message it would probably be best to set page size to 1.

      We recommend PostgreSQL as the back-end database for production use of Mirth Connect (we use it on our appliances). Make sure you add the following lines to your configuration file:

      autovacuum=on

      autovacuum_vacuum_threshold=1000

      This ensures that the database stays speedy, especially with a large number of messages.

      I assume this is in the mirth.properties file?

      Thanks!

        If you were feeling really ambitious, you could add new indexes on the message table within the database.
