  • Repeating fields in segments - Problem

    I have a question about repeating fields, like for instance PID.3. Mirth does not seem to recognize the ~ character that marks the beginning of a new repetition. In my example:
    PID|||SocialSecurityId^^^^SS~LocalID^^^^LR||LastNa me^FirstName^^^Mrs|SpouseName|20000101000000+0000| F||2028-9^Asian^HL70005|Adress^^City^Region^^TH|| PhoneHome| PhoneWork||T^Missing data^HL70002|||SocialSecurityId|||||||||TH||Y|

    Mirth recognizes the PID.3.5 as SS~LocalID. What could I do?

    Turn on "Handle Repetitions" in the data type properties.

      I am having the same problem. Using Mirth 1.7.1 I am trying to split out the Medical Record number from PID.3.1.

      I cannot find where to turn on "Handle Repetitions."
      I need to go from '0002439926~0007065593' to '0002439926'

        This is in you Channel's Summary Tab, in the "set data types" button and then properties.I am using Mirth 2.1. better to upgrade your Mirth version, as there are lot of bug fixes and new features included in 2.1.

        for the second problem use something like the following
        msg['PV1']['PV1.7']= msg['PV1']['PV1.7'][0];
