  • Testing Mirth with bulk messages

    ======================
    Environment: Windows Server 2000 SP4, SQL Server 2000 SP3, Mirth v1.1

    Mirth Channel - LLP Listener to database write
    ======================

    Sent about 140 messages (ADT:A31) from the host. Host HL7 log shows all messages were sent successfully. But Mirth receives and processes only a small number of them, about 5 to 20. Mirth log does not show any error message.

    Tried clearing the temporary cache (Control Pane / Java / General tab / Temporary Internet Files / Delete Files), rebooted the box. Each time I try, Mirth HL7 receives only a small number of messages.

    Any help to troubleshoot this problem is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    We've never heard of this before - could it be the transformer?

    We've run Mirth with > 60,000 messages over LLP and it has processed each one. Try adding some logging to the transformer/filter and see if it's choking anywhere there.

    Also, does the remote system get ACKs for all 140 messages?

      Re: Testing Mirth with bulk messages

      Chris,

      Thank you for the feedback.

      I uninstalled and re-installed Mirth v1.1. Used the "LLP to File Writer.xml" sample from "File Repository" download.

      ACK was turned off ("Request ACK" was unchecked on the host, and "Send ACK" was set to "NO" on Mirth Administraror).

      Sent 142 messages (A04) from the host.

      The first time I tried, Mirth received 139 messages (3 missing).

      Deleted files in the destination folder, C:\Test2, Cleared Statistics, Cleared All Messages in the Admin app, and tried again. The second time, it received only 133 messages (9 missing).

      No errors on the host / Mirth log file.

      Not sure what's going and why I'm missing messages. Is there any setting to clear the cache, data file, queue,...? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks!

        Re: Testing Mirth with bulk messages

        Checked with the TcpTrace (http://www.pocketsoap.com/tcptrace/) utility.

        The trace log has all the 142 messages sent by HL7 host. The problem appears to be on the Mirth side.

          Can you send your bulk messages and your Mirth channels to [email protected]. I can investigate for you.
