Any special characters from ISO8859/1 turn into '?'. Is it possible to receive via LLP anything else than just plain ASCII?

Re: special characters
Yes, special characters (I'm using German umlauts) are converted to question-marks in the output when I use RawData:
I have configured a new Broadcast channel, with default source configuration(LLP).
The destination is a file writer with the template ${message.rawData}.
I send messages using the open source tools HL7Comm and HL7 Inspector.
MSH#17 is 8859/1.
