  • Compress Results via GZIP

I would like to setup a channel that takes an input file and compresses it using gzip or a gzip compatible compression algorithm to an output file.

My thought was to invoke java.util.zip.GZIPOutputStream() but this raises several questions such as:

    1. Can it be done?
    2. How do you get a file stream handle?
    3. Is there a better way?
    4. Do you have an example?

    Thanks!

Do you need a FileStream handle or just an IOStream? IIRC Strings can provide an IOStream so you would GZIP the string then get that IOStream back and write it out.
