  • HL7 with '&' character

As '&' is used for HL7 messages, what can I do when I got a '&' in a HL7 field (standard text) ?

    Thanks !

      Re:HL7 with '&' character

One of my devs was looking at the HL7 spec today and found a similar issue with my teams code. Heres the low down from the 2.3 spec:

      \H\ start highlighting
      \N\ normal text (end highlighting)
      \F\ field separator
      \S\ component separator
      \T\ subcomponent separator
      \R\ repetition separator
      \E\ escape character
      \Xdddd\ hexadecimal data
      \Zdddd\ locally defined escape sequence
So if I'm reading that right you'd use backslash E backslash ampersand backslash E backslash to get an &.

I will try with 'E', thank you very much.
