  • stopping whitespaces being stripped from OBX

    Is there a way to stopping Mirth from Stripping white spaces from a HL7 message

    an example

    OBX|1|TX||| , leg , right ||||||F
    OBX|2|TX||| TEST ||||||F

    Currently the all the white spaces are being stripped.

    I have searched alot on the forums and lots of information about removing the white spaces but not leaving them there.

    thanks for any help in advance.

    Mirth does not strip whitespaces by default so you need to share more about what your channel is doing.

      If you are using the strict parser, it will trim all whitespace from TX data types. This behavior is part of the hapi parser. There is a bug in the version that mirth uses (which is pretty old) that trims leading whitespace from TX when it shouldn't. It's part of the HL7 spec that trailing whitespace get removed.

      If you are using the default mirth parser, it ignores all of that and leaves the whitespace untouched.

      Here's the link for the bug: https://sourceforge.net/p/hl7api/bugs/168/
