HL7 message rules

Hi all

I'm trying to put together a chanel to process non-standard, (well what is ?), version 2.1 messages and keep falling foul of mirth's expectations on message structure, (eg. MSH-9 = ORU, not ORU^R01).

Where are all of the message structures defined and how can I go about over-riding them ?

Mirth uses HAPI for working with 2.x messages. HAPI uses his rule files for defining the structure of HL7 messages. You can try with HAPI, bu I think than the best way is pre-proces the messages
