  • Mirth Connect Message Store Performance - Postgres vs. MySQL

We've done some testing with Mirth using Postgres and MySQL as the message store and have found performance to be surprisingly different.

Our tests were on AWS hosted RDS, on equal resources. Most of the settings were default. Using official Oracle JRE for Mirth, also on AWS.

With the identical channel, we are getting about 22 messages / second on MySQL and 58 on Postgres.

In reading the docs and forums, it seems Postgres is the recommended version and fan favorite. The questions we have to the community are:
    • Are there any special settings for MySQL that others have figured out?
    • Has anybody else seen the same performance difference and is Postgres really the way to go?

    Appreciate the insight,

    Justin
