  • Join the Mirth Connect Slack channel!

Like the IRC channel, it's a place to live chat with others in the community. About Mirth Connect, programming in general, other healthcare IT issues, or anything really!

It's free and easy, just go here to sign up: Join Mirth Connect on Slack

By "y[email protected]" it means enter your e-mail address, FYI.

Then you can sign in here: https://mirthconnect.slack.com/

You can also download the Slack desktop or mobile app here: https://slack.com/downloads

It's a much richer chat environment than IRC (though I love IRC as well). You can share code snippets, upload files, and much more:

I even have a "helpful" bot in there, which just so happens to be written with Mirth Connect channels!

If you have any issues joining let me know here or PM me.

Always include what Mirth Connect version you're working with. Also include (if applicable) the code you're using and full stacktraces for errors (use CODE tags). Posting your entire channel is helpful as well; make sure to scrub any PHI/passwords first.

While I am a Slack fan and like the more "real time" support over on Slack - don't we end up losing the shared knowledge base that the forum provides and a few other things?

    Lost:
    1. Threads (although Slack supports this) - in the sense that a specific question on the forum leads usually to a specific answer in the same thread.
    2. Can't link user to public answer (in Slack).
    3. Disjointed places to get help

It's not meant to be a replacement for the forums, just a supplement

Some people find the real-time back and forth to be helpful when you're not sure how to pose the question to begin with. A lot of times questions asked in Slack do end up with someone posting a link to the appropriate forum topic anyway.

Okay, I'm stumped. I absolutely HATE resurrecting old threads, but I can't seem to get registered to join the Slack channel. When I click the link to register through herokuapp, I get the following application error:

An error occurred in the application and your page could not be served. If you are the application owner, check your logs for details. You can do this from the Heroku CLI with the command
          heroku logs --tail

https://join.slack.com/t/mirthconnec...tPhYE3lEZYCp3A (that only lasts 30 days I think)

I assume it will let you in. I don't work for Nextgen though, they own the workspace.

I was also trying to join this but it seems to be limited by email domain to just nextgen/mirth domains.
Am I missing something or was this recently locked down or no longer active? The above comment makes it sound like it is open to the community.
