  • load balancing active/active cluster

    Hello,

we have two mirth nodes building up, using the same shared SQL database.
and will use the advanced cluster plug-in
and would like to implement the load balance with Citrix ADC / Netscaler

anyone has done that already ?
I have searched the forum and google, could not get an answer.
    any input is greatly appreciated

my thoughts is, maybe this avanvanced cluster plug-in is good at ative/passive cluster, but what about the active /active cluster ?

You asked this over on GitHub also - please reference both posts when you do that. I think you will find most people just don't use the clustering plugin because historically it has not been reliable at high loads. Let alone the fact it doesn't do what you want.

I think most folks just stand up 1 to n highly reliable engines whereby the backend is as redundant as possible. Mirth itself rarely fails when proper configured. Those are unique instances of course with their own mirthdb.

but cluster is for high load, so ,why it exists?

Well, clustering is not just for high loads but that's another discussion point. You can obtain high loads without clustering with multiple instances of mirth with a load balancer in front of them. I am simply stating a fact on the reliability of the plugin, not stating anything about its intended purpose.

You can either chose to ignore what I said or not. In fact the community would love to hear that plugin has become rock solid. Go for it and share with us your results. Get your inbound messages up to a few million a day.

            thanks, guys
since Nextgen would not officially support third party's solution of load balancer if not using their own appliance, my company would not take such risk, and decided just to use active/passive mode

Well the officially don't support a very large number of things, lol. Lots of people have LBs in front of multiple mirth instances - but those instances are basically standalone.
